My junior year has been great so far, considering it’s only been 3 weeks. I can already tell this year will surpass sophomore year in both stress and excitement. This year as class president I will be in charge of coordinating Homecoming and Prom. I can already feel the pressure of those two huge events. But so far my summer was great. During the summer I took a college level english class with my friends, Natalia, Lupe, & Mayra. We had a blast hanging out and having fun over the summer.
The best part was that we all got As in our class. I even got a letter of recommendation from our college professor, Ms. Clemons, she is an amazing professor. We also took a career exploration course online. It taught us the process of getting a job and maintaining that job; it prepared us for the real world. We also got an A in that class. The best part of the summer was going on the trips to various colleges; Stanford, Santa Cruz, USF and CSU Monterey. It was a three day trip that really enjoyed and will never forget. We created a lot of inside jokes, which make us sound insane when people hear us talk about them. This summer I have never laughed that much, it was the best summer I have had in a long time. On the trip my favorite college that we visited was Stanford. It was because of that trip, that Stanford is my top choice now. We had an amazing tour guide that really put into perspective the qualifications of getting into Stanford. I feel like I can get into Stanford if I work my hardest Junior and Senior year. The last thing we did for the summer was go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. I loved Santa Cruz, the area, the people, and the school. The boardwalk was the best part of the trip, for me, I was able to go on all the rides and rollercoasters with my friends. This year I am taking Psychology and I love it so far. I want to major in Neuroscience and Psychology, so this class only reinforces my goal. I like the way Mrs. McElmoyl teaches the class, the way she is so passionate. about psychology motivates me to do the same. Her stories fascinate me and one day I hope I can have stories to tell of my own. Psychology studies the behavior of people. Growing up I didn’t have many friends so I spent my time observing people and how they behaved. I know that was when my interest for Psychology began and I has been there ever since. I hope to discover something big that will help many others lives get better. While it has only been three weeks I have high hopes for junior year and for my future. I will make Junior year a year to remember. I have a lot of trust in the future that things be bright.

My sophomore year began in an unusually interesting manner. The year prior I was voted as class president. When I became sophomore class president, I was really excited, it was a position that I have always wanted. It came with a lot of responsibility and I didn’t want to let anyone who voted in me down. I had big plans for our class and I was going to see them through. This year while it was promised to be exciting, it was also sure to be stressful.
I had many highs and lows this year and I learned a little bit about myself along the way.I felt like giving up multiple times but I never allowed myself to do it. I know that I am going to be someone important, I do not mean to sound conceited, I just want to sound confident. This is the reason why I put myself under so much stress this year. I knew that somehow deep inside of me I could in fact handle it. The most stressful part of sophomore year was planning Homecoming. Homecoming was a huge event for for all of our class and for me personally. We were known as the freshmen that always got in fights and ruined events, but I was going to change that. A very hard working group of people was in charge of our homecoming float, they worked many hard days. We worked together and created an amazing float, something that I’m proud we could do. We were able to unify our class instead of dividing it. We got ourselves together and had some fun along the way. Sophomore year was a year of improving ourselves, this translated to our whole class and to me personally. I wanted my sophomore year to be better than my freshmen year and so on. Because of this mentality my sophomore year so far has been great. I have improved a lot in all I possibly could. This year I joined a lot of sports clubs, and organizations. I joined leadership and became very involved with organizing rallies and activities. I also joined various clubs such as adventure club, CSF, TRiO and Mock Trial; all of which I will remain a part of. I began football this year because I wanted to push myself to my physical limit as well as to my mental limits. I remained a part of tennis because of the great stress reliever it is for me. I hope to improve my playing skills and one day become captain. Sophomore year, reflecting back on it has been intensely motivating. While our AVID Dad, Mr. Guss, is leaving us he has motivated me to strive for the best. He has ingrained the importance of going to college, but not just any college, the best college. I have never had someone impact me as much as he has and while he is leaving the impact he had on me never will. |
