So far I am on pace on all my classes. My hardest classes so far are AP Spanish Literature and AP Calculus. These are the classes that require most of my time and energy, not to mention that the content is college level. AP Spanish was a lot of small assignments that ended up adding to a lot of work.
I was off pace for AP Spanish Literature for most of the year because it was difficult focusing on all my other classes, so I put it on the back burner for awhile and that was a big mistake. I had to turn in so much work to get on pace but thankfully I had thanksgiving break to finish all of it. My goals are to finish all of my classes with a 4 or 4- by the end of the semester and the year. I have finished almost everything for my senior project. This is the last journal I have to do before I finish everything in my senior project. My favorite part in completing my senior project has been doing my job shadow. I learned so much about the medical field by shadowing Dr. Joel Ramirez. It has been very interesting analyzing my favorite moments at LHS and how much I grew. It was weird to think that I was once an awkward antisocial freshman and now I’ve done a complete 180. I am involved in so many clubs and I am really social. I definitely developed socially and academically through out high school.

A part of me is extremely excited for graduation. I want to see what the world has to offer, more than just the central valley; but another part of me is really nervous. I don’t know what’s out there and I don’t know if I’ll like everything I meet. This summer I went to Japan and I had the time of my life. I learned so much about Japanese culture and tradition. Everyone was so welcoming and respectful- it was a big contrast to American culture. I made connections with people I never expected to. I came back with a need to travel and see the rest of the world.
I plan to study abroad during my junior year of college. I would like to see western Europe, especially Spain. Spain, as a member of the European Union has one of the most lax genetic research laws in all of the developed world. Its laws do not restrict scientist who are studying system cells, cloning, gene therapy, and artificial intelligence. I would like to take a genetics course in Iceland, where the research facility that mapped the human genome is located. It has some of the largest specimen sample of human DNA from all over the world. I still need to complete my 6 classes by the end of the semester and complete my Nurse Assistant Training Program by the end of the year. I also have to take 3 AP tests in May. Then comes all the work of applying to scholarships and meeting deadlines for financial aid. The things that I am looking forward to for my senior year are Senior Sunset, Grad Night, and of course Graduation. I also am very excited and nervous to see which universities accepted me or rejected me. My favorite things so far have been Senior Sunrise and Homecoming. I am truly going to miss being part of the LHS community but I am excited to see what the world has in store for me. The Senior Exit Interview asks that you share your life story to a group of members of the community. At one point talking about myself would have seemed like a great challenge. I've never thought that my life was that interesting but by looking back and recalling all the adventures I've had, I have so much to say. It was interesting having to remember what exactly I had done while at LHS. I’m happy that was able to make my mark at LHS by learning as much as I could and by taking advantage of the resources it provided me.
The hardest thing for me, while at LHS, was learning how to ask for help. I am a very prideful person and I enjoy helping others but I get embarrassed when I need to ask help from someone else. I’ve had to learn that asking for help is normal and that it doesn’t matter if I don’t understand something the first time around.Learning how to efficiently manage my time has been very challenging as well. With all the clubs and activities that I partake in, my week is very hectic. I've had to drop a few clubs in order to make for other activities and to maintain my grades. Having fun was the easiest thing to do at LHS. I was very involved early on in my high school career. I joined a lot of clubs, volunteered, and was involved in ASB. I made a lot of friends and a lot of great memories. Where ever it was, having fun at LHS was easy. Now in my last year as a high school student I have continued to make friends with other students. Now that I’m about to finish my senior year, I feel sad having to reminisce about everything I’ve done. One more semester and I leave LHS and with it all the friends and all the memories that I’ve made. However, I’ve also come to realize that I will make more memories and even more friends in my University. That makes me excited to graduate in 5 months. |
